The VALUE COLLECTION GH8860082 is a solid pilot counterbore designed for precise counterboring operations in metal fabrication and machining applications. Built from high speed steel, it delivers reliable cutting performance across a range of materials. The tool features a 0.285 inch counterbore diameter, a 0.163 inch pilot diameter, and a straight cylindrical shank measuring 0.3125 inches (5/16 inch) in diameter. With an overall length of 2.75 inches and 2 flutes, this counterbore maintains accurate hole geometry during forward cutting passes. It is sized specifically for use with number 8 fillister-head screws, making it a practical choice for shops that need consistent, repeatable counterbore depth and diameter.
This counterbore is suited for bench and machine tool use in manufacturing, toolroom, and maintenance environments. It mounts in a drill press, milling machine, or CNC setup where a straight cylindrical shank is accepted. The standard pilot design guides the tool concentrically with a pre-drilled clearance hole, ensuring the counterbore seats correctly over the pilot bore. Typical applications include preparing fastener seats in metal fixtures, frames, and structural assemblies where fillister-head screws must sit flush or recessed within the workpiece surface.
Designed for use with number 8 fillister-head screws. Accepts standard pilot configuration. Compatible with drill presses, milling machines, and CNC setups fitted to accept a 0.3125 inch straight cylindrical shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with rotating cutting tools. Secure the shank firmly in a drill chuck or collet rated for the shank diameter before operation, and confirm the pilot fits the pre-drilled hole without binding. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing or adjusting tooling. Do not exceed the machine spindle speed recommended for high speed steel counterbores in the workpiece material being cut.
