The VALUE COLLECTION GH8815300 is a 3-flute interchangeable pilot counterbore designed for precision counterboring operations in metalworking and machining applications. Built from cobalt steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this tool delivers reliable cutting performance in harder materials where high-speed steel may fall short. The straight shank measures 7/16 inch in diameter and 3-1/16 inches in length, with an overall length of 4-5/16 inches. The 15/32 inch counterbore diameter and right-hand cutting direction make it suitable for creating clean, flat-bottomed recesses for socket head cap screws and similar fasteners. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this tooling.
This counterbore is suited for use in machine shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments where interchangeable pilots allow a single body to serve multiple hole sizes. The interchangeable pilot design accepts a 3/16 inch pilot shank diameter, keeping tooling costs down when working across varied fastener specifications. It is appropriate for use in drill presses, milling machines, and CNC machining centers performing counterbore operations in steel, stainless, and other ferrous alloys where cobalt tooling is the standard choice.
Designed as an interchangeable pilot counterbore for use with standard straight-shank tool holders and drill press chucks accepting a 7/16 inch shank; compatible with separately sourced pilots with a 3/16 inch shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with counterboring operations and proper speeds and feeds for cobalt tooling. Secure the workpiece firmly before starting the cut, and ensure the machine spindle is at a full stop before changing pilots or removing the tool from the chuck. Follow the machine manufacturer guidelines for runout tolerance and chuck torque when mounting straight-shank tooling. Cutting fluid or coolant appropriate to the workpiece material is recommended to extend tool life.
