The VALUE COLLECTION GH8790321 is a straight-shank interchangeable pilot counterbore designed for precision recess cutting in metal fabrication and machining applications. The tool features a 0.5-inch counterbore diameter and a 7/16-inch straight shank, giving it a secure fit in standard drill press chucks and milling machine spindles. Constructed from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers reliable cutting performance across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Three right-hand flutes provide efficient chip evacuation and a clean, flat-bottomed counterbore seat. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers of this type of cutting tool.
This counterbore is suited for use in job shop, production, and maintenance machining environments where bolt-head or fastener recessing is required. The interchangeable pilot design allows pilots of differing diameters to be swapped out for use with various fastener sizes without replacing the entire body. The compatible pilot shank diameter for this configuration is 3/16 inch. It is appropriate for use in both manual drill press setups and light-duty CNC or manual milling operations on steel, aluminum, and similar materials.
Designed as an OEM-style interchangeable pilot counterbore compatible with straight-shank tool holders accepting a 7/16-inch shank diameter. Accepts 3/16-inch interchangeable pilots as specified for this configuration.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify the pilot is properly seated and locked before engaging the workpiece. Always use appropriate cutting fluid for the material being machined to extend tool life and improve finish quality. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the tool if damage is observed.
