The VALUE COLLECTION GH8790297 is a 3-flute interchangeable pilot counterbore designed for precise counterboring operations in metal fabrication and machining applications. Built from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this tool delivers consistent cutting performance on a straight 7/16-inch shank. The counterbore diameter measures 29/64 inches, the overall length is 4-5/16 inches, and the shank length runs 3-1/16 inches. Right-hand cutting geometry suits standard drill press and milling machine setups. The interchangeable pilot design allows the operator to swap pilots to match different fastener clearance requirements without replacing the body.
This counterbore is suited for general metalworking tasks including spotfacing and bolt-hole preparation in sheet metal, structural steel, and machined components. It is commonly used in job shops, maintenance and repair operations, and manufacturing environments where consistent seat depth and diameter are required. The straight shank configuration fits standard three-jaw chucks and collet holders found on drill presses, lathes, and vertical milling machines. The pilot shank diameter compatibility is 3/16 inches, making it appropriate for common fastener pilot sizes in that range.
Compatible with 3/16-inch interchangeable pilot shanks. Fits standard three-jaw chucks and collet systems accepting a 7/16-inch straight shank. Designed as a general-purpose counterbore for use in drill press, lathe, and milling machine applications.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with rotating cutting tools. Secure the straight shank firmly in a properly sized chuck or collet before operation and verify the pilot is fully seated and locked before engaging the workpiece. Always power down and de-energize the machine before changing pilots or inspecting the tool. Do not exceed the recommended speed and feed parameters for the workpiece material and tool diameter.
