The VALUE COLLECTION E1419012 is a solid pilot counterbore designed for precision enlarging and finishing of bolt-hole seat areas in metal workpieces. Built from cobalt steel, this tool handles the elevated heat and cutting forces common in steel and stainless applications. It features a 20 mm counterbore diameter, a fixed 14 mm pilot diameter that aligns the tool in the existing through-hole, and 3 cutting flutes for efficient chip evacuation. The 1/2-inch (12.70 mm) straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill press and milling machine chucks. Overall length is 190.5 mm. Forward cutting direction means this tool runs in standard right-hand rotation. It suits machine shops, maintenance facilities, and fabrication operations where consistent, clean counterbores are required.
This counterbore is used to create flat-bottomed recesses around drilled holes to seat socket-head cap screws, bolts, and similar fasteners with a 12 mm fastener size compatibility. It is suited for use in ferrous metals including alloy steel and stainless steel where cobalt construction provides heat resistance at higher speeds. Typical applications include production drilling operations, fixture building, and structural fabrication. Installation is performed in a drill press, milling machine, or machining center with the pilot engaging the pilot hole for concentricity.
Designed for use with 12 mm fastener sizes in straight-shank drill press, milling machine, and machining center setups. Compatible with standard 1/2-inch drill chucks and collet holders.
This tool is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in machine tool spindles. Secure the straight shank in a properly sized chuck or collet and confirm runout before cutting. Always bring the spindle to a full stop before tool changes or workpiece repositioning. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain surface finish quality.
