The VALUE COLLECTION CNMG120408SC30 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert designed for metal cutting applications on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape with a negative side clearance, making it suitable for general-purpose external turning and facing operations. The insert carries an I55 manufacturer grade and is supplied in an uncoated bright finish. Key dimensional specs include a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 3/16-inch insert thickness, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. Machinists and CNC operators working with steel and ferrous workpiece materials will find this insert suited to finishing and semi-finishing passes.
This turning insert is intended for use in standard CNMG-style toolholders configured for negative-rake clamping with pin or clamp holding methods. The ANSI insert code is CNMG432 and the ISO insert code is CNMG120408. It is rated for primary workpiece material code P, indicating suitability for machining steel and similar ferrous materials. The material grade range is C5 and C6, covering finishing to light roughing carbide classifications. The G-style chip breaker geometry assists with chip control during continuous turning operations. This insert is sold individually and must be ordered in multiples of 10.
Designed for use in CNMG-style negative-rake turning toolholders that accept a CNMG432 (CNMG120408) insert with clamp or pin retention. Intended for primary workpiece material code P applications, including steel and ferrous alloys.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician with the machine powered down and in a locked-out state before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket before applying clamping torque; an improperly seated insert can fracture under cutting load. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before installing a new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's specifications for clamp screw torque and insert retention method.
