The VALUE COLLECTION CLNI20430-050B is a distorted-thread hex lock nut designed to resist loosening under vibration and dynamic loads. Built to a 7/16-14 UNC thread specification in Grade 2 steel with a zinc-plated finish, this two-way lock nut functions in either direction of thread engagement. The 3/8 inch height and 11/16 inch width across flats make it a standard hex profile, compatible with conventional wrenches and sockets. Sold in a minimum order quantity of 50 pieces, this nut is suited for general mechanical assembly, HVAC equipment fastening, plumbing fixture mounting, and structural bracketing across residential and light commercial applications.
This lock nut is appropriate for use in general-purpose fastening applications where a reusable, prevailing-torque solution is preferred over a nylon-insert design. The distorted-thread locking mechanism does not rely on a secondary insert, making it serviceable in moderate-temperature environments where nylon inserts may degrade. It is commonly installed by HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, and maintenance professionals during equipment installation, structural assembly, and field repairs requiring secure, vibration-resistant fastening without adhesive or deforming methods.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or stock fastener for any assembly requiring a 7/16-14 distorted-thread hex lock nut in Grade 2 steel with a zinc-plated finish, conforming to UNC and UNF fastener standards.
Installation does not require specialized tooling beyond a standard combination wrench or socket set sized for 11/16 inches across flats. De-energize and de-pressurize any system before replacing fasteners on live equipment. Distorted-thread lock nuts are reusable for a limited number of cycles; inspect thread condition before reuse in critical load-bearing applications. Follow applicable mechanical codes and equipment manufacturer torque guidelines for the assembly being serviced.
