The VALUE COLLECTION C22001212 is a Woodruff keyseat cutter designed for milling the semicircular keyseats found in shafts and mating components. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers solid performance in ferrous and harder workpiece materials. The cutter measures 1.5 inches in diameter with a 0.375 inch cutting width and mounts on a 1/2 inch shank. With 16 staggered teeth and a 2.375 inch overall length, it conforms to ANSI standard 1212 (Old Standard G). Machinists and tool-and-die technicians rely on this type of cutter for keyseat work on manual mills and CNC machining centers.
This cutter is suited for residential and industrial machine shop environments where Woodruff keyseat profiles are required in shaft applications. The staggered tooth configuration reduces chatter and improves chip evacuation during the plunge-style cutting motion typical of keyseat operations. It is appropriate for use on knee mills, vertical machining centers, and similar setups where a 1/2 inch arbor or collet is available. Operators producing keys per ANSI Woodruff key standards will find this cutter directly applicable to standard 1212 and Old Standard G keyseat profiles.
Designed as a standard Woodruff keyseat cutter conforming to ANSI 1212 and Old Standard G dimensions, compatible with 1/2 inch collets or arbors on vertical milling machines and machining centers where this keyseat profile is required.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with milling machine setup and cutter arbor practices. Secure the shank fully in a properly sized collet or arbor holder and verify runout before cutting. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing or inspecting the cutter. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for cobalt tooling in the workpiece material being machined.
