The VALUE COLLECTION BS27N0022 is a No. 22 wire-size jobber-length drill bit ground from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish. The 130-degree split point reduces walking on entry and handles softer, non-ferrous workpiece materials efficiently. A slow spiral flute geometry promotes chip clearance without sacrificing rigidity in the cut. At 3.125 inches overall length with a 2-inch flute, this is a standard jobber format suited for bench drilling, hand-held drill, or drill press work. The straight cylindrical shank seats directly in standard three-jaw chucks. Licensed trades and general machinists reach for this size when layout and hole location demand a precision wire-gauge diameter.
The BS27N0022 is sized to a No. 22 wire gauge, equal to 0.1570 inch decimal diameter. It is intended for use on aluminum, copper, brass, and other non-ferrous materials where the slow spiral and 130-degree point geometry deliver clean entry and controlled chip evacuation. Typical applications include sheet metal fabrication, light mechanical assembly, plumbing rough-in through soft substrates, and electrical box knock-out work on aluminum panels. The ANSI-specification grind makes it a drop-in for most production or MRO drilling setups where a 0.157-inch bore is called out.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill for use in any standard three-jaw chuck accepting a 0.1570-inch straight shank; compatible with bench drill presses, hand drills, and drill press vises configured for non-ferrous or soft-material drilling at the No. 22 wire gauge diameter.
Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent grab, especially in thin aluminum sheet. Disconnect or de-energize any powered equipment before mounting or changing drill bits. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling non-ferrous metals to extend bit life and improve hole finish. Follow applicable shop safety standards and wear eye protection during all drilling operations.
