The VALUE COLLECTION BS2700026 is a high speed steel (HSS) jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in aluminum and non-ferrous materials. Ground to a 130-degree point angle with a web-thinned, tapered web configuration, it reduces entry force and improves centering on softer metals. The slow spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation in gummy, ductile materials where faster spirals tend to pack. At 5.25 inches overall length with a 3.875-inch flute length, this bit fits standard drill chucks and drill presses without modification. The bright, uncoated finish is the baseline for general-purpose HSS tooling. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working in light-metal applications are the primary users.
This drill bit is sized at 13/32 inch (0.4062 inch decimal) and falls within the 0.4000 to 0.5000 inch drill size range. It is suited for through-hole and blind-hole drilling in aluminum, copper, brass, and other non-ferrous stock. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard three-jaw drill chucks on hand drills, drill presses, and milling machines. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drilling operations. No coolant-through capability means it is intended for surface-applied cutting fluid or dry drilling at appropriate feed and speed rates for the workpiece material.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill bit for use in standard three-jaw drill chucks on hand drills, drill presses, and milling machines handling aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials.
A licensed machinist or qualified maintenance technician should secure the shank fully in a properly sized drill chuck before operation. Ensure the workpiece is clamped or fixtured — never hold non-ferrous stock by hand when drilling at this diameter. Apply cutting fluid to the work surface when drilling aluminum to reduce heat buildup and extend edge life. Inspect the cutting edges before use and retire the bit if chipping or dullness is present to avoid workpiece damage or tool breakage.
