The VALUE COLLECTION BS26N0055 is a wire gauge No. 55 jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in production and maintenance applications. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright/uncoated finish, it measures 0.0520 inches in diameter and 1.875 inches overall length. The 140-degree split point reduces walking on entry and requires less thrust than a standard 118-degree point. A fast spiral flute promotes chip evacuation, keeping the cutting edge clear during through-hole drilling. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drill press and hand-drill use. Web-thinned, tapered web geometry further reduces axial cutting force on small-diameter work.
This bit is suited for drilling steel, aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and wood in light manufacturing, tool-and-die, instrument assembly, and field service environments. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without modification. At 0.0520 inches, the No. 55 wire gauge size is commonly used for tapping pilot holes, precision clearance holes, and dowel-pin locations where close diameter tolerance matters. No coolant-through feature; conventional flood coolant or cutting oil applied at the surface is appropriate for steel work.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill bit for use in standard drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand drills with chucks capable of accepting a 0.0520-inch straight shank. Conforms to ANSI specification for jobber-length twist drills.
Installation and use of this bit should be performed by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, or qualified maintenance professionals. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify concentricity before drilling. Power down the machine and lock out energy sources before changing bits. Apply cutting oil or appropriate coolant when drilling steel to extend bit life and reduce heat buildup; do not run dry on ferrous materials for extended periods.
