The VALUE COLLECTION BD650 is a 5/16-18 cage nut with a black phosphate finish, designed for use in panel and enclosure assembly applications where a threaded fastening point is needed in thin sheet metal. Cage nuts snap into square knockout holes in rack panels, server enclosures, electrical cabinets, and similar sheet metal structures, providing a captive threaded insert without welding or tapping. This cage nut accepts material thickness from 0.023 inches to 0.063 inches. Sold in a pack of 50 units, the BD650 is suitable for volume fastener work on enclosures, equipment racks, and industrial panels.
The BD650 cage nut is used in residential and commercial electrical, data, and mechanical enclosure installations wherever a removable, repositionable threaded anchor is required in thin-gauge sheet metal panels. Electricians, mechanical contractors, and equipment rack installers commonly use cage nuts when mounting components to standard relay racks, server cabinets, and distribution panels. The black phosphate coating provides a degree of corrosion resistance and reduces galling during installation. The 5/16-18 thread size is a common unified coarse (UNC) thread compatible with standard 5/16-18 screws and bolts used across a wide range of panel-mount applications.
Designed as a standard 5/16-18 cage nut for use in thin sheet metal panels, relay racks, server enclosures, and electrical cabinets with square knockout openings and material thickness between 0.023 inches and 0.063 inches.
Cage nuts are installed by hand or with a cage nut insertion tool into square knockout holes in rack panels or enclosures before introducing the mating fastener. Verify the panel knockout size matches the cage nut clip dimensions and that panel material thickness falls within the 0.023 to 0.063 inch range before installation. De-energize all equipment in the enclosure before performing any mechanical work inside or on the panel. Avoid over-torquing the mating screw, as excessive force can deform the cage or strip the thread insert.
