The VALUE COLLECTION BD-16722 is a Schedule 80 CPVC pipe bushing designed to reduce a 1-1/2 inch pipe connection down to a 1/2 inch fitting. Made from chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC), this bushing handles the elevated temperatures and pressures common in hot and cold water distribution systems. The spigot-by-slip end connection allows it to thread or seat directly into a mating socket fitting without additional adapters. Plumbers and pipefitters install this bushing during new construction or retrofit work wherever a size reduction is needed in a CPVC piping run.
This bushing is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications where CPVC Schedule 80 pipe and fittings are specified. Typical installations include hot and cold water supply lines, industrial process piping at moderate temperatures, and chemical distribution systems where CPVC material compatibility is required. The 1-1/2 inch to 1/2 inch reduction makes it a common choice when transitioning between a main line and a branch supply outlet.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting compatible with Schedule 80 CPVC pipe and socket fittings following the 1-1/2 inch spigot and 1/2 inch slip connection standard.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines for CPVC systems. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before cutting into existing piping. Use CPVC-rated solvent cement and primer only — do not substitute PVC cement, as it is not rated for CPVC. Allow full cure time per the cement manufacturer instructions before restoring system pressure.
