The VALUE COLLECTION 92240 is an extended prong cotter pin manufactured from 18-8 stainless steel with no coating applied. It measures 5/32 inch in diameter and 1-3/4 inches in length. The extended prong design allows the legs to be bent back after insertion, locking fasteners, clevis pins, and shaft assemblies securely in place. This type of cotter pin is a standard mechanical fastener used across plumbing, HVAC, and general mechanical assembly work. Stainless steel construction provides corrosion resistance in wet or outdoor service environments, making it suitable for installations where carbon steel hardware would be at risk of rust or surface degradation.
This cotter pin is used wherever a positive-locking retention method is needed on a clevis pin, shaft, or bolt. Typical applications include securing valve linkages, actuator arms, pump shaft assemblies, and mechanical drive components in both residential and light commercial service. The extended prong legs give technicians more material to bend and lock compared to a standard prong cotter pin, which is useful in tight assemblies where extra retention is preferred. These are sold in a minimum order quantity of 50 units per purchase.
Designed as a standard extended prong cotter pin for use in mechanical assemblies requiring a 5/32 inch diameter retention fastener across general trade and industrial applications.
Installation requires no special tools beyond needle-nose pliers to spread and bend the prong legs after insertion through the pin bore. Always ensure the bore hole diameter matches the pin diameter before installation to prevent loose fit or pin failure. Disengage or de-energize any mechanical system before removing or installing cotter pins in actuator or linkage assemblies. Do not reuse a cotter pin that has already been bent and removed, as repeated bending weakens the material.
