The VALUE COLLECTION 92215 is an extended prong cotter pin made from 18-8 stainless steel. It measures 0.09375 inches (3/32 inches) in diameter and 0.5 inches in length. Extended prong cotter pins feature longer tines that bend back around a fastener or shaft to lock a clevis pin, axle pin, or similar fastener securely in place. The 18-8 stainless steel construction provides solid corrosion resistance, making this pin suitable for wet or outdoor environments. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, equipment mechanics, and general tradespeople install these as retention fasteners in a wide range of mechanical assemblies.
This cotter pin is used wherever a small-diameter retention fastener is needed in mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, or industrial equipment assemblies. The extended prong design allows the tines to wrap more securely around a shaft or clevis than a standard cotter pin, reducing the risk of backing out under vibration. Typical applications include securing clevis pins on linkage rods, locking slotted castellated nuts, and retaining shaft-mounted components in light to medium-duty service. The stainless steel material makes it appropriate for installations exposed to moisture, mild chemicals, or outdoor conditions.
Designed as a standard-style extended prong cotter pin for use in mechanical linkages, plumbing assemblies, HVAC equipment linkage rods, and general industrial applications requiring a 0.09375-inch diameter retention fastener.
Installation is performed by tradespeople and mechanics using needle-nose pliers or cotter pin tools. De-energize, depressurize, or shut off the equipment before servicing any fasteners in the assembly. Insert the pin through the drilled hole in the shaft, then bend the extended prongs back firmly against the shaft or nut face to lock it in place. Never reuse a previously bent cotter pin, as the metal may be fatigued and could fail in service.
