The VALUE COLLECTION 882-005C is a Schedule 80 CPVC threaded pipe nipple designed for close-quarter piping connections in residential and light commercial plumbing systems. Made from chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC), it measures 1/2 inch pipe size and 1-1/8 inches in length. The gray Schedule 80 wall thickness provides greater pressure capacity than Schedule 40, making it suitable for higher-demand water distribution and chemical handling lines. Male threads on both ends allow direct connection to standard threaded fittings, valves, and couplings. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of nipple where a short threaded extension is needed between two threaded components.
This nipple is suited for Schedule 80 CPVC piping systems in hot and cold water supply, industrial process lines, and chemical distribution applications where standard PVC lacks sufficient temperature or pressure rating. The 1/2 inch pipe size and close-nipple length make it practical in tight spaces where longer nipples will not fit. It is commonly specified in commercial plumbing, institutional facilities, and industrial installations requiring corrosion-resistant threaded connections.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for Schedule 80 CPVC threaded piping systems using 1/2 inch nominal pipe size fittings and valves.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC requirements. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded nipple. Apply a code-approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, and tighten to hand-snug plus a controlled number of turns using a pipe wrench — avoid over-tightening CPVC threads, as the material can crack under excessive torque. Inspect threads for damage before installation; a cracked or cross-threaded nipple should not be used.
