The VALUE COLLECTION 848-040 is a Schedule 80 PVC end cap designed to terminate 4-inch pipe runs with a female iron pipe thread (FIPT) connection. Built from rigid PVC, this fitting delivers reliable chemical and corrosion resistance in pressurized and non-pressurized piping systems. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides greater pressure tolerance compared to Schedule 40, making it appropriate for demanding service environments. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting to close off the end of a threaded pipe run cleanly and permanently or temporarily during pressure testing.
This end cap is suited for use in residential and commercial plumbing, irrigation, industrial process piping, and chemical distribution systems where PVC is an approved material. The FIPT connection threads directly onto a male-threaded pipe end. It is commonly used during rough-in work to cap branch lines, isolate sections of pipe, or block unused outlets during system commissioning.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 4-inch Schedule 80 PVC threaded piping systems in plumbing and industrial applications.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Isolate and depressurize the pipe section before threading the cap onto the male pipe end. Apply an appropriate PTFE tape or thread sealant compound to the male threads before installation to ensure a leak-free joint. Do not over-tighten, as PVC threads can crack under excessive torque.
