The VALUE COLLECTION 847-0062 is a double-end, 4-flute square end mill manufactured from high speed steel (HSS). With a 1/16 inch cutting diameter and a 3/16 inch length of cut (LOC), this tool is suited for light-duty milling operations in soft to medium-hardness materials. The bright, uncoated finish indicates bare HSS with no additional surface treatment. A 30-degree helix angle promotes chip evacuation along the spiral flutes. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this end mill in CNC machining centers, manual knee mills, or rotary tool setups where small-diameter precision cutting is required.
This end mill is designed for small-feature milling tasks including slotting, profiling, and contouring in applications where a 1/16 inch diameter tool path is required. The double-end configuration allows the tool to be flipped and reused once one end wears, extending service life. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional milling setups. The regular-length geometry keeps the tool rigid in shallow-reach applications. This tool is used in job shops, prototype machining, and general metalworking operations.
Designed as a general-purpose OEM-style small-diameter end mill for use in standard straight-shank collets and end mill holders sized for 3/16 inch shank diameter, as found in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom professional. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool changer or quill locked before inserting or removing the end mill. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder matching the 3/16 inch shank diameter and torque the draw bar or retention mechanism per the machine manufacturer's specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use, as small-diameter HSS end mills are susceptible to breakage under excessive feed rates or lateral load.
