The VALUE COLLECTION 837-052 is a Schedule 80 PVC reducer bushing designed to transition piping from a 3/8-inch line down to a 1/4-inch line. It uses a spigot-by-socket end connection, allowing it to slip into a socket fitting on one end while accepting a socket fitting on the other. Made from PVC, this bushing handles the higher wall thickness demands of Schedule 80 systems. Plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in pressure piping, irrigation, chemical handling, and industrial fluid systems where a compact, corrosion-resistant reducer is needed at a branch or termination point.
This reducer bushing is suited for residential and commercial PVC piping systems that require a step-down in pipe diameter. Schedule 80 fittings are commonly used in applications with higher pressure ratings or where added wall strength is required compared to Schedule 40. The spigot-by-socket configuration makes it straightforward to integrate into existing PVC runs without special tooling beyond standard PVC cement and primer.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using standard spigot and socket connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing codes. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before cutting into any existing piping. Use PVC primer and solvent cement rated for Schedule 80 fittings, and follow the cement manufacturer's cure time before returning the system to pressure. Do not use this fitting with solvents, adhesives, or fluids outside the material compatibility range of standard PVC.
