The VALUE COLLECTION 82238050 is an adjustable round die designed to cut external M30x3.5 metric coarse left-hand threads. Machined from high-speed steel, this die delivers the hardness and wear resistance needed for threading steel, stainless, aluminum, and other common shop materials. At 0.75 inches thick, it seats securely in a standard round die stock holder. The adjustable design allows the operator to dial in thread fit by slightly opening or closing the die, making it suitable for both production threading and one-off repair work. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users.
This die is intended for applications requiring left-hand metric coarse threads at the M30x3.5 pitch. Left-hand thread dies are used where rotation during operation would otherwise loosen a standard right-hand fastener — common in spindle assemblies, turnbuckles, certain bicycle components, and industrial machinery with counterclockwise shaft rotation. The M30 diameter is a large-format metric thread, typically encountered in heavy equipment, hydraulic cylinder rods, and structural threaded assemblies. Suitable for manual threading in a die stock or use in a threading fixture.
Designed for use in standard round die stocks that accept dies for M30 diameter threading. Fits round die holders sized for the corresponding die diameter; verify die holder bore and set-screw configuration before installation.
Round dies are installed and operated by machinists or experienced maintenance technicians. Secure the die firmly in a properly sized die stock before use — a loose die will produce off-axis or damaged threads. Apply cutting fluid generously to the workpiece before and during threading to reduce heat buildup and extend die life. For left-hand threading, rotation direction is reversed relative to standard right-hand dies; confirm thread direction requirement before starting the cut.
