The VALUE COLLECTION 724-6409 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, this tool delivers increased hardness and wear resistance compared to standard HSS end mills. The 1/4 inch cutting diameter, 3-flute geometry, and high-helix flute design work together to efficiently evacuate chips while maintaining a good surface finish on ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The reduced-shank roughing profile allows heavier passes at lower cutting forces, making it well suited for roughing slots, pockets, and contour cuts in a variety of metals.
This end mill is appropriate for use in manual mills, knee mills, CNC machining centers, and bench-top milling machines where a 3/8 inch collet or end mill holder is available. The 1-1/8 inch length of cut accommodates moderate-depth pocketing and slotting operations. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand flute spiral are compatible with standard spindle configurations found in most shop environments. It is a practical choice for machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians who need a capable cobalt roughing tool at a smaller diameter range.
Designed for use in any milling machine or machining center equipped with a 3/8 inch collet, end mill holder, or shrink-fit toolholder. Suitable as a direct replacement roughing end mill wherever a single-end cobalt tool of this diameter and flute count is specified.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolmaker. Secure the shank fully within the holder to the minimum insertion depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer and confirm runout before cutting. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Follow applicable shop safety practices and consult the machine manufacturer guidelines for appropriate feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material.
