The VALUE COLLECTION 724-5110 is a cobalt roughing finishing end mill designed for material removal and surface finishing in a single tool. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with Titanium Nitride (TiN), this end mill handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials where standard HSS tooling wears prematurely. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, four flutes, a square end geometry, and a 30-degree helix angle. The Weldon flat shank provides positive retention in compatible tool holders. It is a single-end, right-hand cut tool suited for milling operations on manual and CNC machining centers.
This end mill is used in job shop, production, and maintenance machining environments. The roughing-finishing geometry reduces chatter during aggressive cuts while still producing an acceptable finish, making it practical for profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling. The 5/8 inch length of cut and 2-5/8 inch overall length suit it to standard-depth pocketing and contouring work. It is not center-cutting, so it is not intended for plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. Machinists running steel, stainless, and similar alloys where tool life matters will find the TiN coating extends edge life compared to uncoated cobalt tooling.
Designed for use in 1/2 inch Weldon flat tool holders on manual knee mills, CNC vertical machining centers, and similar milling equipment. Not center-cutting; requires a pre-drilled entry point for plunge operations.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Secure the Weldon flat shank fully in the tool holder and tighten the set screw against the flat to manufacturer torque specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts. Always confirm spindle speed and feed rates against published data for the workpiece material and cutting diameter before engaging the tool.
