The VALUE COLLECTION 724-5098 is a single-end cobalt roughing finishing end mill designed for material removal and finish passes on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with Titanium Nitride (TiN), it delivers improved wear resistance and extended tool life compared to standard HSS tooling. The 15/32 inch cutting diameter, 30-degree helix angle, and 4-flute square end geometry make it well suited for side milling, slotting, and profiling operations on manual and CNC milling machines. A Weldon flat shank provides positive drive and reduces slippage under aggressive cuts. This end mill is installed and used by machinists and tooling professionals in job shop and production environments.
This end mill is intended for use in conventional and CNC milling applications requiring a combination of stock removal and surface finishing in a single tool. The 15/32 inch (0.4688 inch decimal) diameter and 1-1/4 inch length of cut accommodate moderate depth-of-cut passes in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting orientation are standard for conventional mill spindle rotation. The 1/2 inch shank diameter fits standard R8, ER, and Weldon-style tool holders commonly found in vertical knee mills and machining centers.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling option for milling machines accepting a 1/2 inch shank end mill in Weldon flat, R8, or ER collet tool holders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard tooling safety procedures. Ensure the milling machine spindle is fully stopped and powered down before inserting or removing the end mill. Seat the Weldon flat against the set screw in the tool holder and torque the set screw per the tool holder manufacturer specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut, and select speeds and feeds appropriate for the workpiece material and machine rigidity.
