The VALUE COLLECTION 724-5086 is a roughing and finishing end mill designed for material removal and surface finishing in machining operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with Titanium Nitride (TiN), it delivers improved wear resistance and heat tolerance compared to standard HSS tooling. The 3/8 inch diameter, 4-flute configuration with a 30-degree helix angle provides efficient chip evacuation and a smooth finish. The square end geometry suits slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling cuts. A Weldon flat shank ensures positive drive and minimal slippage in the tool holder. This end mill is a single-end tool intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in manual or CNC milling applications.
This end mill is suited for use on ferrous metals, alloy steels, and harder workpiece materials where cobalt tooling offers a performance advantage over standard M2 HSS. With a 1-1/8 inch length of cut and a 2-15/16 inch overall length, it fits standard vertical and horizontal milling machines as well as CNC machining centers using 3/8 inch collets or end mill holders with Weldon flat drive. Right-hand cutting direction with right-hand flute direction is the standard orientation for conventional and climb milling setups.
Designed for use in 3/8 inch end mill holders or collet chucks with Weldon flat drive on standard vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers. Not center-cutting; not intended for direct plunge entry into solid material.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard tool-holding procedures. Ensure the milling machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the Weldon flat shank securely against the set screw in the holder to prevent axial pull-out during cutting. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, and confirm the tool is not being used in a plunge entry application, as this end mill is not center-cutting.
