The VALUE COLLECTION 724-5071 is a single-end roughing finishing end mill designed for material removal and surface finishing in one tool. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with Titanium Nitride (TiN), it delivers improved wear resistance and extended tool life compared to standard HSS tooling. The 3/8-inch diameter, 4-flute configuration with a 30-degree helix angle and square end geometry makes it well suited for side milling, slotting, and profiling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on CNC or manual mills will find it a reliable option for general-purpose milling tasks.
This end mill is intended for use in standard vertical milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills in both job shop and production environments. The Weldon flat shank provides a positive set-screw drive that resists pullout under moderate cutting loads. With a 7/16-inch length of cut and a 3/8-inch shank diameter, it fits standard collets and end mill holders commonly found in light-to-medium-duty machine setups. It is sold as a single unit and is appropriate for shops needing a compact, coated cobalt rougher-finisher without committing to a bulk order.
Designed as a standard 3/8-inch shank end mill compatible with collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style tool holders used in vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers that accept 3/8-inch round shank tooling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's tool-holding specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the end mill. Seat the Weldon flat against the set screw in the holder and torque the set screw according to the holder manufacturer's recommendation. Because this tool is non-centercutting, avoid direct plunge entry into the workpiece - use ramp or helical entry strategies instead.
