The VALUE COLLECTION 724-5047 is a cobalt roughing-finishing end mill designed for demanding milling operations where both material removal rate and surface finish quality matter. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with Titanium Nitride (TiN), this tool handles ferrous and non-ferrous materials with improved wear resistance and longer tool life compared to standard HSS tooling. With a 5/16 inch cutting diameter, 4-flute geometry, and a 30-degree helix angle, it delivers efficient chip evacuation and a stable cut in a compact form factor. Machinists and toolroom operators use this end mill in vertical milling machines, knee mills, and CNC machining centers.
This end mill is suited for milling slots, pockets, profiles, and contours in steel, stainless, aluminum, and other machinable alloys. The square end geometry makes it appropriate for flat-bottom cuts and shoulder milling. The Weldon flat shank design provides positive drive and reduces the risk of tool pullout in high-feed applications. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are the standard configuration for conventional and climb milling on most shop equipment. It is a single-end tool sold individually.
Designed as a standard-geometry replacement end mill for use in any milling machine or machining center accepting a 3/8 inch shank with a Weldon flat holder or collet chuck.
Install and torque the set screw on the Weldon flat shank holder according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications before beginning any cut. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material before engaging the cutter. This tool is not center-cutting and cannot plunge directly into solid material — use ramping or pre-drilled entry points. Follow OSHA and shop safety protocols, including proper eye protection, when operating milling equipment.
