The VALUE COLLECTION 724-4125 is a single-end roughing finishing end mill designed for aggressive material removal followed by a semi-finished surface in one tool. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it handles tough ferrous metals and hard alloys that standard HSS tooling cannot manage efficiently. The 1/2 inch diameter, 4-flute configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces during heavy passes. A Weldon flat shank provides positive tool retention in the holder, preventing pullout under high feed rates. Machinists and tooling specialists install this end mill in vertical mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers for roughing and light finishing operations.
This end mill is suited for shop floor use on manual mills and CNC equipment in job shops, production facilities, and maintenance machine shops. The square end geometry makes it appropriate for slotting, peripheral milling, and step milling in steel, stainless, and other tough alloys. The bright uncoated finish is standard for cobalt tooling used in applications where coating adhesion or lubricity is managed through cutting fluid rather than surface treatment. Right-hand cutting direction and right-hand flute spiral are standard for conventional and climb milling setups.
Designed as a standard replacement or stock end mill for 1/2 inch collets and Weldon flat end mill holders used in vertical mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers requiring a 1/2 inch shank single-end square tool.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per shop safety procedures. Seat the Weldon flat securely against the set screw in the holder to the full engagement depth recommended by the holder manufacturer. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material and depth of cut being used.
