The VALUE COLLECTION 724-4119 is a single-end roughing finishing cobalt end mill designed for aggressive material removal followed by a finish pass in one tool. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it handles tough ferrous and hard alloy materials that would break down standard HSS tooling. The 1/2-inch diameter cutter runs four right-hand flutes at a 30-degree helix angle, producing efficient chip evacuation during recutting operations. A bright, uncoated finish is standard, making regrinding straightforward. The 1/2-inch Weldon flat shank seats securely in standard end mill holders, and the 1-5/8-inch length of cut covers typical depth requirements in milling fixtures and vises.
This end mill suits general machining environments where a single tool must handle roughing and light finishing on ferrous metals, stainless, and similar hard alloys. It is appropriate for vertical mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers running conventional or climb milling strategies. Machinists and toolroom technicians in job shops, production facilities, and maintenance departments commonly use cobalt roughing finishing end mills for interrupted cuts and difficult workpiece materials where carbide risk is high. The square end profile suits shoulder milling, slotting, and step cutting applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement-compatible roughing finishing end mill for any standard 1/2-inch end mill holder or collet chuck accepting a Weldon flat shank.
Secure the Weldon flat shank fully into the end mill holder with the flat aligned to the set screw before tightening to prevent pull-out under load. Power down and lock out the spindle before tool changes. Verify runout with a dial indicator after chucking, as cobalt end mills are sensitive to off-center loading. This product is not centercutting and is not suitable for direct plunge operations.
