The VALUE COLLECTION 724-3119 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in metalworking and machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this end mill delivers hardness and heat resistance suited for cutting tough alloys and hardened steels. The 4-flute geometry provides a strong core and efficient chip evacuation during roughing passes. A TiN (titanium nitride) coating reduces friction and extends tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The 1/2 inch cutting diameter and 1-5/8 inch length of cut make it well suited for slotting, side milling, and peripheral roughing operations on standard machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is used in job shops, tool rooms, and production machining environments where high material removal rates are the priority before a finishing pass. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional and climb milling on vertical and horizontal milling machines. The non-centercutting design means it is not intended for direct plunge cuts. It performs across a range of workpiece materials including carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and other ferrous metals where cobalt tooling is the appropriate choice.
Designed as a direct-fit roughing end mill for standard 1/2 inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic toolholders used on vertical and horizontal CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or in an E-stop state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended gauge-line depth and torque the retention screws or collet nut per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear and reduce surface finish quality.
