The VALUE COLLECTION 724-3110 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, this end mill delivers improved wear resistance and heat tolerance compared to standard HSS tooling. It carries a 0.5 inch cutting diameter, a 0.625 inch length of cut, and a 2.625 inch overall length. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand flute geometry are standard for conventional milling setups. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this type of end mill in vertical mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers.
This roughing end mill is suited for hogging out stock in roughing passes before finish milling operations. The 4-flute geometry balances chip evacuation and tool strength, making it effective in mild steel, alloy steel, stainless, and similar ferrous materials. The 0.5 inch shank diameter fits standard 0.5 inch collets and end mill holders. It is a non-centercutting design, so it is not intended for plunge cutting. Typical applications include slot roughing, peripheral roughing, and profile work where dimensional precision in the roughing stage is secondary to material removal rate.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling option for any machine spindle accepting a 0.5 inch shank end mill holder or collet. Compatible with vertical mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers equipped with standard ER, R8, or CAT/BT toolholding systems that accept 0.5 inch shanks.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolroom procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from its holder. Seat the shank to the full recommended insertion depth in the collet or holder before torquing the retention hardware. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and reduces surface finish quality.
