The VALUE COLLECTION 724-2119 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this tool handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials with a 1/2-inch cutting diameter and a 1-5/8-inch length of cut. The 4-flute, right-hand cutting and flute geometry delivers efficient chip evacuation during roughing passes. This end mill is a practical choice for machinists and tool-and-die professionals running manual mills or CNC machining centers where high-feed roughing cuts are required before finishing passes.
This roughing end mill is suited for general-purpose material removal in job shop, manufacturing, and maintenance machining environments. It fits standard 1/2-inch collets and milling chucks found on vertical mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers. The single-end design means the tool is replaced rather than flipped when the cutting end is worn. It is appropriate for roughing passes in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar hard materials where M42 cobalt grade offers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard M2 high-speed steel.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling option for 1/2-inch collet chucks and side-lock holders on vertical mills and CNC machining centers requiring a roughing end mill with a 1/2-inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard toolholding procedures. Secure the 1/2-inch shank in a properly sized collet, end mill holder, or side-lock holder and torque to the toolholder specification. Ensure the spindle and machine are fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Because this is a non-centercutting end mill, do not attempt direct plunge cuts — use a ramp entry or pre-bored start hole instead.
