The VALUE COLLECTION 724-2056 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this tool handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials where standard HSS tooling falls short. The 5/16-inch cutting diameter pairs with a 3/8-inch shank diameter, giving it a solid grip in standard collets and end mill holders. With 3 flutes and a right-hand cutting and flute direction, it generates efficient chip evacuation during roughing passes. The 1-1/8-inch length of cut and 2-15/16-inch overall length suit it to short-reach slotting and profiling work on CNC mills and manual knee mills alike.
This roughing end mill is suited for production and job-shop environments where rapid stock removal is the priority before a finishing pass. The cobalt M42 construction makes it a practical choice for cutting alloy steels, stainless steel, and other harder materials at elevated feeds. It is not center-cutting, so it requires a pre-drilled entry point or ramp entry when plunging. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators working on molds, fixtures, and structural components are the primary users of this tool type.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling option for milling machines accepting a 3/8-inch shank end mill holder or collet chuck in CNC or manual mill spindles.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator using a properly sized collet or end mill holder torqued per machine-tool manufacturer specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and locked before changing tooling. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating the shank to confirm concentricity before beginning a cut. Because this tool is not center-cutting, do not attempt direct plunge entry without a pilot hole or programmed ramp path.
