The VALUE COLLECTION 724-1122 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, it delivers strong wear resistance and extended tool life under high-heat cutting conditions. The 1/2 inch diameter, 4-flute configuration produces a coarser chip load than standard finishing mills, reducing chatter and cutting forces on the workpiece. With a 2 inch length of cut and 4 inch overall length, this tool suits a range of milling depths on vertical mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in shop environments.
This end mill is suited for roughing passes on steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar hard materials where rapid stock removal is the priority. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional milling setups. The center-cutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole, adding versatility in slotting and pocket milling operations. The 1/2 inch shank diameter fits standard R8, ER, or side-lock tool holders commonly found in job shops and production machining environments.
Designed as a standard 1/2 inch shank roughing end mill compatible with vertical milling machines, knee mills, and CNC machining centers equipped with ER collet, R8, or side-lock toolholding systems that accept a 1/2 inch shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and locked out before mounting or changing tooling. Confirm the shank is seated to the minimum engagement depth recommended for the tool holder type in use. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, and select feeds and speeds appropriate for the workpiece material and machine rigidity.
