The VALUE COLLECTION 724-1098 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, it handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials while maintaining edge integrity under heat and load. The cutter measures 15/32 inches (0.4688 inches decimal) in diameter with a 1/2-inch shank diameter. It features 4 flutes with a right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction, a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 3-1/4 inch overall length. This tool is center-cutting, allowing plunge entry in addition to standard peripheral milling passes.
This roughing end mill suits general machining work in job shops, maintenance shops, and production environments. It is used on manual knee mills, CNC machining centers, and bridgeports where stock removal rate is prioritized over surface finish. The coarse geometry of a roughing end mill breaks chips aggressively, making it appropriate for roughing passes in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials before a finish end mill is used for final dimensions. The 0.5-inch shank diameter fits standard ER or R8 collet systems commonly found in these machines.
Designed as a direct-fit roughing end mill for any milling machine or machining center equipped with a 1/2-inch collet, end mill holder, or Weldon-style chuck. Verify spindle taper and collet size before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from the holder. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth and torque the retention hardware per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or wear before each use; do not run a damaged tool.
