The VALUE COLLECTION 724-1077 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this tool handles tough ferrous metals and alloys where standard HSS tooling falls short. It features a TiN (titanium nitride) coating that extends tool life by reducing friction and heat buildup at the cutting edge. With a 3/8 inch diameter, 4 flutes, right-hand cut, and right-hand flute direction, it delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth roughing passes on CNC mills and manual knee mills alike. Machinists and tool and die professionals are the primary users of this style of end mill.
This end mill is suited for roughing operations on steel, stainless, and other hard materials in both job shop and production environments. The 3/4 inch length of cut provides adequate reach for most shallow-to-mid-depth pocketing and slotting work. The 3/8 inch shank fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders common to vertical milling machines. It is appropriate for both conventional and climb milling strategies when used within recommended speeds and feeds for cobalt tooling. Center-cutting capability allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece when required.
Designed as a standard 3/8 inch single-end roughing end mill compatible with vertical mills, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills equipped with 3/8 inch collet chucks or end mill holders.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom professional. Secure the shank fully into a clean, undamaged collet or end mill holder and torque to the machine manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before use, and confirm spindle runout is within acceptable limits before beginning a cut. Always verify feeds, speeds, and depth of cut against published data for M42 cobalt tooling and the specific workpiece material before engaging the cut.
