The VALUE COLLECTION 724-0134 is a single-end square end mill ground from cobalt high-speed steel for machining ferrous metals, stainless steel, and tough alloys. It features a 5/8-inch cutting diameter, a 5/8-inch length of cut (LOC), and a 3-flute geometry that balances chip evacuation with cutting rigidity. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration are the standard orientation for conventional milling spindles. At 2-3/4 inches overall length with a 5/8-inch straight shank, it fits directly into standard collet chucks, end mill holders, and milling machine spindles without adapters. Cobalt construction provides better heat resistance than standard M2 high-speed steel, making it a practical choice for harder workpiece materials at moderate cutting speeds.
This end mill is suited for slot milling, peripheral milling, and shoulder milling in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments. The centercutting design allows plunge cutting directly into the workpiece, giving machinists flexibility for pocketing operations without pre-drilling a pilot hole. The coarse pitch and regular-length designation make it appropriate for general-purpose milling of steel, cast iron, and similar materials on knee mills, CNC machining centers, and manual milling machines.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or stock end mill for use in standard 5/8-inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and milling spindles on knee mills and CNC machining centers.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before loading or changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder and verify torque on the drawbar or set screws according to the machine and holder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use and confirm runout with a dial indicator when close-tolerance work is required.
