The VALUE COLLECTION 724-0116 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this tool handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials while maintaining edge integrity under heat. The 4-flute geometry combined with a right-hand cutting direction delivers efficient chip evacuation across a 1.25-inch length of cut. The bright, uncoated finish keeps friction low on compatible workpiece materials. With a 0.5-inch mill diameter and matching 0.5-inch shank diameter, it mounts directly into standard end mill holders and collet chucks. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and shop technicians use this style of rougher to hog out stock before finishing passes.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose roughing operations in manual and CNC milling setups. The single-end configuration makes it a standard fit for vertical mills, knee mills, and machining centers handling steel, stainless, cast iron, and other hard materials. The centercutting design allows plunge entry, expanding its use to slot milling and pocket roughing applications. The 3.25-inch overall length fits standard tool holders without extended-reach adapters. This tool is a practical choice in job shops, maintenance machining environments, and production floors where consistent stock removal is the priority.
Designed as a standard replacement or stock roughing end mill for use in any 1/2-inch end mill holder, ER collet chuck, or side-lock holder accepting a 0.5-inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the holder and torque the retention mechanism per the holder manufacturer specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before engaging the workpiece, and verify that cutting direction matches spindle rotation.
