The VALUE COLLECTION 724-0014 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers the heat resistance and edge retention needed for cutting ferrous metals, alloys, and harder workpiece materials. The cutter measures 0.25 inches in diameter with a 0.3125-inch length of cut and a 0.375-inch shank diameter. Its 3-flute geometry provides a balance between chip evacuation and cutting stability, making it well suited for roughing passes where material removal rate matters more than surface finish. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is appropriate for use in vertical milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills in job shop, maintenance, and production environments. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are the standard configuration for conventional milling setups. The centercutting design allows plunge cutting in addition to peripheral and slot milling operations, adding versatility for complex part programs. It is a practical choice for roughing steel, stainless, and high-temperature alloys where cobalt tooling is specified over standard HSS.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit roughing end mill for use in any milling machine or machining center accepting a 0.375-inch straight shank end mill holder or collet.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using a standard end mill holder, collet chuck, or set-screw adapter sized for a 0.375-inch shank. The spindle must be fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the tool. Confirm shank engagement depth meets the holder manufacturer minimum before applying cutting forces. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use, and replace the tool when edge condition degrades to avoid workpiece damage or tool breakage.
