The VALUE COLLECTION 723-9119 is a cobalt square end mill designed for material removal and contouring operations on ferrous and high-temperature alloy workpieces. It carries a 0.4724 inch mill diameter, a 13/16 inch (0.8125 inch) length of cut, and a 3/8 inch shank diameter, with a 2-1/2 inch overall length. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and left in a bright uncoated finish, it maintains edge hardness under heat without the added cost of a coating. The 30-degree helix spiral flute geometry supports efficient chip evacuation. This is a single-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can plunge directly into a workpiece as well as cut laterally. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys in machine shop and production environments. The regular-length body fits standard tool holders and works in both manual knee mills and CNC machining centers. The two-flute configuration provides larger chip gullets compared to four-flute designs, making it practical for slotting operations where chip clearance is a priority. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation match conventional spindle rotation on the vast majority of vertical milling setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use cutting tool compatible with 3/8 inch straight-shank tool holders, collets, and end mill adapters used on vertical mills and CNC machining centers. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys.
Installation is performed by machinists using a collet, end mill holder, or set-screw adapter sized for a 3/8 inch shank. Confirm the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Verify runout at the shank before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on cobalt tooling. Follow the machine manufacturer and OSHA guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate when working with high-temperature alloys.
