The VALUE COLLECTION 723-6781 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Machined from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it carries a TiN (titanium nitride) coating that increases surface hardness and extends tool life under high-heat cutting conditions. The mill measures 7/8 inch (0.875 inch) in diameter with a 3/4 inch shank, a 1-7/8 inch length of cut, and a 4-1/8 inch overall length. With 5 flutes and a right-hand cutting and flute direction, it is suited for roughing passes on ferrous and harder alloy materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users of this tooling.

This roughing end mill is intended for use in vertical and horizontal milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills where heavy stock removal is required. The serrated or wave-form cutting edges typical of roughing end mills break chips into smaller segments, reducing cutting forces and heat buildup during deep passes. It is appropriate for roughing operations on steel, stainless steel, and similar hard metals in both job shop and production environments. Note that this tool is not centercutting and is not designed for plunge entry.

Installation Notes

Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine spindle fully powered down and locked. Secure the shank in a clean, properly sized collet or side-lock holder and torque the retention hardware according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts. Always wear appropriate PPE and confirm workpiece fixturing is rigid before initiating a roughing pass.
