The VALUE COLLECTION 723-6708 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, this tool handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials where standard HSS tooling falls short. It features a 1/4 inch (0.25 inch) mill diameter, a 3/8 inch shank diameter, and a 5/8 inch (0.6250 inch) length of cut. With 3 flutes and a right-hand cutting and flute direction, it is suited for hogging stock quickly before finish passes.
This roughing end mill is used in manual and CNC milling applications across job shops, tool rooms, and production environments. It is appropriate for slotting, profiling, and peripheral roughing cuts in steel, stainless, and other hard materials. The single-end configuration makes it a straightforward drop-in for standard end mill holders and collet chucks with a 3/8 inch bore. It is not center-cutting, so plunge entry is not recommended without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
Designed for use in standard end mill holders and collet chucks accepting a 3/8 inch shank diameter, compatible with manual knee mills and CNC machining centers.
Installation is performed by machinists and toolroom technicians. Secure the shank fully within the collet or end mill holder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Because this tool is not center-cutting, avoid direct plunge moves; use ramping or helical entry strategies instead.
