The VALUE COLLECTION 723-5886 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this tool handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials with durability. The 2-inch cutting diameter and 8-flute geometry produce a coarse chip-breaking action that reduces cutting forces and heat buildup during heavy roughing passes. With a 1.125-inch length of cut and a 0.75-inch shank diameter, it is built for rigidity in standard end mill holders and milling chucks. Licensed machinists and toolroom operators install and use this type of cutter in knee mills, VMCs, and horizontal milling machines.
This roughing end mill is suited for production and toolroom environments where stock removal rate is the priority before a finish pass. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional and climb milling on most vertical and horizontal setups. The non-centercutting design means this tool requires a pre-drilled or pre-bored entry point and is not intended for plunge cutting. It is appropriate for residential shop, job shop, and light industrial milling of steel alloys, cast iron, and similar materials.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill for use in standard 0.75-inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit tooling systems on vertical and horizontal milling machines accepting a 2-inch diameter cutter.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state per applicable safety procedures. Seat the shank fully into the holder and torque the retention fastener to the tool holder manufacturer specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before cutting, as excessive runout accelerates tool wear and degrades surface finish. Do not use this non-centercutting tool for plunge entry without a pre-machined starting bore.
