The VALUE COLLECTION 723-5874 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention when cutting ferrous metals, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. The 1.75-inch mill diameter and 6-flute configuration produce a chip-breaking action that reduces cutting forces and minimizes chatter during heavy cuts. The bright, uncoated finish is suitable for general-purpose roughing where coolant is applied. This tool is intended for machinists and tool-and-die professionals running manual knee mills or CNC machining centers.
This roughing end mill is suited for face milling, slotting, and peripheral roughing passes on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The 1.125-inch length of cut accommodates moderate-depth shoulder and pocket roughing. The 0.75-inch shank diameter fits standard R8, CAT, BT, and HSK toolholders sized for that shank. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction follow conventional milling orientation. The non-centercutting geometry means this tool requires a pre-drilled or pre-bored entry point and is not suited for plunge milling.
Designed for use in standard toolholders accepting a 0.75-inch shank, including R8, CAT, BT, and similar systems on manual or CNC milling machines. Non-centercutting geometry requires a pre-drilled entry; not suitable for plunge operations.
This tool should be installed and changed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill. Secure the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the toolholder and verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut. Consult the machine manufacturer and tooling supplier for recommended speeds and feeds based on workpiece material and depth of cut.
