The VALUE COLLECTION 723-5853 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it measures 1.5 inches in diameter with a 0.75-inch shank diameter. The six-flute geometry produces a corncob-style cutting action that breaks chips into smaller segments, reducing heat buildup and allowing higher feed rates than standard end mills. With a 1.125-inch length of cut and a 3.375-inch overall length, this tool suits production environments where roughing passes need to be completed quickly before finish milling.
This roughing end mill is intended for use in vertical and horizontal milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills. It is suited for roughing ferrous metals, alloy steels, and stainless steels where chip clearance and tool rigidity are priorities. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with standard spindle rotation. It is not center-cutting, so ramp or side entry is required rather than plunge entry. Machinists, tool and die makers, and CNC operators in job shops and production facilities are the primary users.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill for use in standard milling machine spindles and tool holders accepting a 0.75-inch shank diameter.
Install in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder that accepts a 0.75-inch shank; a loose or worn holder will cause runout and premature wear. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the power source is locked out before changing tooling. Because this tool is not center-cutting, do not attempt to plunge directly into solid material — use a ramping or helical entry path or begin from an existing feature edge. Confirm cutting direction matches right-hand spindle rotation before starting the cut.
