The VALUE COLLECTION 723-5808 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this tool handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials where standard HSS tooling falls short. It features a 1-inch cutting diameter, 5 flutes, and a 4-inch length of cut, making it suited for deep slotting and profiling passes. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional milling setups. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this type of end mill in vertical mills, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills.
This roughing end mill is intended for use in shop environments requiring high-volume stock removal before finish passes. The 5-flute geometry with roughing serrations breaks chips into smaller segments, reducing cutting forces and heat buildup during heavy cuts. With a 1-inch shank diameter matching the cutting diameter, it seats directly in standard ER or side-lock toolholders of the same bore. It is not center-cutting, so it is not suitable for direct plunge operations. This tool does not feature extended reach or variable helix geometry, keeping the setup straightforward for standard depth-of-cut applications.
Designed as an OEM-style single-end roughing end mill for use in standard 1-inch bore toolholders on vertical mills and CNC machining centers requiring aggressive roughing capability.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholder torque and runout specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Confirm the shank is fully seated in the toolholder collet or side-lock holder and check runout before beginning a cut. This tool is not center-cutting and must not be used for plunge milling without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
