The VALUE COLLECTION 723-5736 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers the hardness and heat resistance needed for cutting ferrous metals, stainless steels, and other tough workpiece materials. The cutter measures 0.5 inches in diameter with a 2-inch length of cut and a 4-inch overall length, making it well suited for side milling, slotting, and roughing passes where chip clearance and tool life under load are the priority. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this end mill in standard vertical or horizontal milling machines and machining centers.
This roughing end mill is intended for use in shop environments where high material removal rates are required before a finish pass. The 4-flute, right-hand cutting and right-hand flute geometry produces efficient chip evacuation on roughing cuts in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 1/2-inch shank diameter fits standard R8, ER, or weldon-style collet systems commonly found in job shops, maintenance departments, and production facilities. It is a single-end tool, so the full shank length is available for secure tool holding. The non-centercutting design means it is intended for peripheral and side cutting rather than plunge milling.
Designed as a standard 1/2-inch shank roughing end mill for use in milling machines and machining centers equipped with collet chucks, end mill holders, or Weldon-style holders accepting a 1/2-inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tool crib technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the collet or set screw is properly torqued per the tool holder manufacturer specifications. This is a non-centercutting end mill and must not be used for direct plunge entry into solid material.
