The VALUE COLLECTION 723-5712 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers the heat and wear resistance needed for tough ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The cutter measures 9/32 inch (0.2813 inch) in diameter with a 3/4 inch length of cut and a 3/8 inch shank diameter. Three right-hand flutes in a right-hand cutting direction provide efficient chip evacuation during roughing passes. This tool is installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators performing roughing operations on mills and machining centers.
This end mill is suited for roughing passes on knee mills, vertical machining centers, and CNC milling equipment where stock removal rate takes priority over surface finish. Its non-centercutting geometry means it is intended for peripheral side milling and slotting entries from the workpiece edge, not direct plunge cuts. The cobalt M42 construction makes it appropriate for cutting alloy steels, stainless steels, and other materials that generate elevated cutting temperatures. The single-end configuration allows straightforward tool holding in standard collet chucks and end mill holders using the 3/8 inch shank.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill for use in standard 3/8 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and milling machine spindles on knee mills and vertical machining centers.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC operators. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or removing any tooling. Secure the 3/8 inch shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism according to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Because this end mill is non-centercutting, do not use it for direct axial plunge cuts — begin cuts from the workpiece edge or a pre-drilled entry point.
