The VALUE COLLECTION 723-4580 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials with greater heat resistance than standard HSS tooling. The 1-inch diameter cutter features 3 flutes with a high-helix, right-hand cutting and flute geometry, producing fast chip evacuation and reduced cutting pressure. With a 4-inch length of cut and 6.5-inch overall length, it provides extended reach for deeper pocketing and slotting operations on vertical and horizontal milling machines and machining centers.
This roughing end mill is suited for production and job-shop environments where stock removal rate is the priority over finish quality. The bright, uncoated surface finish makes tool wear easy to monitor during service. Center-cutting capability allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled start hole, simplifying setups. The 1-inch shank diameter matches standard collet and end mill holder sizes common in knee mills, CNC vertical machining centers, and manual bridgeport-style machines. It is intended for installation and use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement roughing end mill for standard 1-inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic tool holders used in knee mills, bridgeport-style machines, and CNC vertical machining centers requiring a 1-inch shank diameter tool.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from the tool holder. Secure the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the collet or holder to prevent tool pullout under cutting loads. Inspect cutting edges for chips or wear before each use and remove the tool from service if damage is observed.
