The VALUE COLLECTION 723-4574 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers the heat and wear resistance needed for tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 1-inch cutting diameter is matched by a 1-inch shank diameter, with a 2-inch length of cut and a 4.5-inch overall length. Three flutes with a high helix style and right-hand cutting direction allow efficient chip evacuation while maintaining a stable cut. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry. This tool is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in production and job-shop environments.
This roughing end mill suits milling applications where rapid stock removal is the priority before a finishing pass. The high-helix, three-flute configuration is well suited to slotting, profiling, and pocketing in steel, stainless, and similar alloys. At 0.91 pounds, it is appropriately weighted for a 1-inch solid cobalt tool. Its single-end design means the cutting geometry is fixed at one end, which is the standard configuration for most vertical and horizontal milling machine setups. No extended reach is provided, keeping rigidity high at the spindle.
Designed as a direct-fit roughing end mill for standard 1-inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon shank tool holders used on vertical mills, CNC machining centers, and horizontal mills.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom professional. Power down and lock out the spindle drive before changing tooling. Secure the shank fully within the holder to the recommended engagement depth per the holder manufacturer — inadequate engagement is the leading cause of tool pullout under load. Verify runout with a dial indicator after mounting before beginning a cut. Follow the machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety codes for RPM and feed rate selection.
