The VALUE COLLECTION 723-4517 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it handles tough workpiece materials where standard HSS tooling wears quickly. The cutter measures 3/4 inch in diameter with a matching 3/4 inch shank, a 2-inch length of cut, and a 4-1/4 inch overall length. Three flutes with a high-helix, right-hand cutting geometry clear chips efficiently and reduce chatter during heavy roughing passes. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece. This end mill is installed and used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on vertical mills, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills.
This end mill is suited for roughing applications in ferrous and hard alloy materials in both job-shop and production environments. The high-helix flute geometry promotes chip evacuation in deep pockets and slotting cuts. The right-hand flute direction and regular-length profile make it compatible with standard R8, CAT, BT, and collet-style toolholders. It is appropriate for both conventional and climb milling strategies on horizontal or vertical setups requiring aggressive stock removal before a finishing pass.
Designed as a standard 3/4 inch shank single-end roughing end mill compatible with collet chucks, end mill holders, and similar toolholding systems accepting a 3/4 inch straight shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Secure the shank fully into the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications before operation. Verify spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the cut. Always use appropriate cutting fluid or mist coolant for the workpiece material to maximize tool life and surface finish quality.
